(This was only about 5 minutes into the job. The smiles did NOT last long!)

That monster tiller was aaaaawwwweSOME!

Chewed up that soil like it was buttah!

The week after we did all the above, we cleared and tilled the little hill you see on the right under the tree shadows. There were some nasty roots and old tree stumps on that hill. We both had the sore muscles to prove it.

Now all that's left is to finish clearing, level the ground, build boxes, fill boxes, create the border, revitalize the grass, put the playset back together, make the fire pit, get gravel, spread gravel, plant some stuff.....

Um. So, how 'bout that brick pile?!

Under Construction

Well, here it is a new year already. When did that happen?

Aaaand, that pretty much sums up the last 10 months.

"Blog" has been on my 'To Do' list for months, usually noted like this: BLOG!! (underlined too)

You can see how well I paid attention to my list. There were some bigger items on there and they kind of took up a lot of time, and can best be summed up by the title of this post....

Under Construction

Allow me to clarify:

1. We split the girls into two separate rooms, in which process I lost my office and the house looked like it had thrown up. And stayed that way for nearly 6 months.

2. We had a major upheaval in church responsibilities for both the Mr. and I, which was a two - three month process by the time everything got settled.

3. We finished the garage and built a storage room. (See no. 1)

4. I had a nervous breakdown.

5. I've started work again and will be done at the end of February again.

6. We've started to tame the wilderness that is our backyard - a serious undertaking I assure you. Again. Oh - but this time we have a real plan. It's not just hacking the jungle back for the third time.

And, that's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head, People!

It's truly been a life under construction lately. So, pardon the dust and watch your heads, I intend to do better in the new year at keeping my blog updated on every grisly detail. Should be fun, right?!

This post is just to prove, contrary to appearances, I'm not dead.

I suppose I'll update the blog soon.

Excuses, excuses...

So, it's been awhile. Miss me?

Last time I blogged, I was here:

When I got home, Lil' Sis had popped out a weird skin condition, which later turned out to be something called Henoch Schonlein Purpura or "HSP" to those in the know. Rare. Not contagious. Extremely unpredictable. It was 6 to 7 weeks before it resolved, not the 4-6 weeks as predicted. Compared to what could have happened here, we got very very very lucky. Blessed.

In the meantime, I was getting ready for this too:

Needless to say, it's been a bit of a blur. I was in character for Halloween all month: zombie, psycho, or witch. I couldn't seem to decide. It was a sort of twisted Halloween Russian Roulette each day for my family. Spooky.

The best part? Waking up to find my table covered with treats and the kids away at school.

Mwahahaha! Aha. Ahahahah! Eeeeeheeeheeheehee!

My Old Dutch

Dear Girls,

Tonight we had dinner at a cool little pancake house called My Old Dutch.

The napkins were big.

So were the plates.

Auntie Al came in on the plane this morning.

She was a little tired.

I had a peaches and cream "pancake". It's like a crepe.

It was delicious.

It was huge.

I'm really full.
